2021 Clutch Creations Recap

What We've Been Up to :)



Never a dull moment at Clutch Creations! The Clutch Crew took on 2021 with a positive attitude and like the rest of the world, we prepared ourselves to be agile in the changing environment. We experienced a variety of amazing opportunities, made great connections, and saw a ton of growth. We put together this recap in case you missed anything!


For starters in January, we kicked off the new year by adding some new merch to our collection. Add some pizzazz to your keys with our new octopus keychain or spice up your water bottle sticker collection with our new Clutch Smiley Sticker.


In February, “The Clutch Strap” word mark and octopus logo officially became registered trademarks with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. We also launched a brand new speciality leather, exclusive Valentines Day Clutch Strap in a metallic Rose Gold leather.


In March, we were honored to work with the very talented Christina Boemio to photograph some AMAZING new content pictures. You can browse the beauty she captured on our Instagram and Pinterest pages.

In April, we were thrilled to ship out all of the orders from our successfully over-funded Kickstarter campaign! Our CEO Kristi also took a trip to visit The Clutch Strap manufacturer in Medellín, Colombia to capture a behind the scenes look of how our products are made. Check out the video here! Meanwhile back in the states, we launched the Cross-Body Clutch Strap collection on our website.


In May, we took the opportunity to revamp the product photography on our website and have a Clutch Crew meet up for new headshots taken by the amazing David Choe.


In June, the Clutch Crew ambassadors represented Clutch at over 6 different music festivals all around the country! We debuted the behind the scenes video of the Clutch Strap creation process and launched the Mini Clutch Straps for the first time! We kicked off the launch with a giveaway on our socials in collaboration with Rave Nailz.


In July, we dropped one of our very favorite straps to date and the first ever limited edition Mini Clutch Strap- The Oil Spill Mini.


In August, our signature Clutch packaging box got a makeover and we introduced a new sales channel in partnership with well-known retail convenience store Circle K to test how sales performed having The Clutch Strap on retail shelves! We saw some success in the 8 top performing stores located in Texas. In August we also decided to launch a second limited edition, specialty leather Mini Clutch Strap, The Wild Night Cheetah Mini.


By September, it was time to add some flavor to our classic styles and we introduced gold hardware to the entire family of Clutch Straps!


Just in time for spooky season and as the temperatures began to drop in October, we introduced the first ever line of Clutch merchandise with super comfy Clutch hoodies and beanies! Fun fact, each of our team members designed their own version and we launched The Drip Hoodie, Lucky Draw and ROYGBIV designs and took pre-orders.



In November, Clutch took a trip down to our friends in Georgia and recorded a podcast with the Burn the Ship podcast to talk about who we are, where we’ve been and where we’re going! You can watch us talk about our journey creating Clutch here.


And finally, to wrap up a great year, in December we collaborated with some of our favorite female-owned and operated brands to put together a huge holiday giveaway! The collaborators included Mamie Ruth, Lunar Embroidery, and Rave Nailz.
